This is information for configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 to connect to the CSBS IMAP server.

| First, open up Outlook by clicking on Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. |

If you are using Microsoft Outlook for the first time you should see the Outlook 2003 Startup Wizard, however if this is not your first time using Microsoft Outlook, you may not see the startup wizard. If you do not see the Startup Wizard, click here

Click on Next. |

The Account Configuration window should then pop up: Select No, then click on Next. |

The Cancel Configuration window should now appear. Check the "Continue with no e-mail support." and then click on Finish. |

Once you have Finished with the wizard you should now be at the Outlook Main window. Click on the Tools menu, and then on E-mail Accounts... |

Click Add a new e-mail account. Click Next.

Click IMAP. Click Next.

Enter your own name and e-mail address in the fields shown. For Incoming mail server (IMAP) use imap.csbs.utah.edu. For Outgoing mail server (SMTP), if you are using an on-campus network, use smtp.csbs.utah.edu. Use your ISP's SMTP server if you are on an off-campus network (i.e. dial-up, cable modem, DSL, etc.).
Click More Settings...

| In the General tab, enter imap.csbs.utah.edu for the Mail Account name.
Leave the other two fields blank.
Click the Advanced tab. |

| For secure connections, so your password is not transmitted in clear text to everyone in the world (a good idea), check the box This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).
NOTE: This will force a warning each time you check mail. To get rid of the warning, install the certificate that is provided by CSBS by following the instructions found here.
Enter mail in the Root folder path field.
Click OK.
Click Next.

Click Finish.

| If a folder named sent-mail does not appear under the imap.csbs.utah.edu heading in your mail folder list in the main Outlook window, you will want to add one so your sent mail can be saved on the IMAP server.
To add a sent-mail folder, right-click on imap.csbs.utah.edu (as shown) and select New Folder...

| Enter sent-mail in the Name field and make sure imap.csbs.utah.edu is highlighted.
Click OK.

The sent-mail folder will now appear under the imap.csbs.utah.edu heading.
You will want to change the view settings for this folder since you want to see who you sent the mail to rather than who sent the mail (which is always you).
Select the folder sent-mail so that it is highlighted as shown here. |

From the View menu, select Arrange By -> Current View -> Customize Current View....

| Click the Fields... button. |
|

| Select Sent in the left field.
Click Add ->.
Select To in the left field.
Click Add ->.
|

 |
| Now slide those items so that To is under From and Sent is under Received (as shown).
You can use the Move Up button for each of those items to get them into position. |

| Select From in the right field.
Click <- Remove.
Select Received in the right field.
Click <- Remove.
Click OK. |

| Next, select Options from the Tools menu.
|
|
 |
| Click the E-Mail Options button.
|
|
 |
| Uncheck the box Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder.
Click OK.
As a last step, you need to set up a rule to save your sent mail in your sent-mail IMAP folder. |

| Select Rules and Alerts... from the Tools menu. |
|
 |
Click the New Rule... button.

| Click the Start from a blank rule button.
Click the line Check messages after sending.
Click Next. |

| Click on the uses the form name checkbox.
Click form name in the bottom half of this window. |
|
 |
| Select Message in the left field.
Click Add ->.
It will appear in the right field as shown.
Click Close.
Click Next ->. |

| Check the box move a copy to the specified folder.
Click specified in the bottom half of this window. |
|
 |
| Select the sent-mail folder from your IMAP account.
Click OK. |
|
 |
| This window may pop up.
Click OK. |
|
 |
| Click Next. |
|
 |
| There's nothing to change in this window.
Click Next. |

Name this rule sent-mail.
Click Finish.
|

The sent-mail rule will now appear in your list of rules. If the checkbox is not on, there may be an error with the rule. Make sure you are online and get back to this Rules window later to make sure it can be turned on without an error.
Click OK.

Now we need to make a shortcut to open up outlook that will open to the imap.csbs.utah.edu account directly. To do this, minimize all windows, and right click on the desktop, click on New and then on Shortcut. |

Enter: "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" Outlook://imap.csbs.utah.edu/Inbox /recycle
(Note: You can copy the string above and paste it directly into the location field of the window.) Then click on Next.

On the next screen, put Microsoft Outlook in the name field, and then click Finish.

You should now see a Microsoft Outlook Icon on your desktop. Using this shortcut will open Outlook and automatically show the imap.csbs.utah.edu folders. |

The last step is to install a security certificate to prevent an error message every time the imap.csbs.utah.edu account is accessed. To do this you must open Internet Explorer, and in the Address field, type: https://imap.csbs.utah.edu:993/

You may see the following window: 
If you do, click on OK
|
On this screen, click on View Certificate.

Next you should see this screen, click on Install Certificate

Click on Next
 |
Check Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate, then click on Next

|
Click on Finish

|
After clicking finish, you will see the following Security Warning. Click Yes to install the certificate.

You should see the following window. Click OK.

You should now be back to this screen.

Click OK to continue |
This should take you back to the Security Alert Window.

Click on No. Close Internet Explorer, and then click on your Microsoft Outlook shortcut to get to your email. |
