To download X-Win32:

01. Open a web browser and browse to: ftp://ftp.csbs.utah.edu/pub/x-win32

02. Download the executable [x-win71-1500sf.exe] and the license file [x-win_155.97.0.0-license.txt]

* if you are using Mozilla or Netscape
right-click and select "Save Link As..." or left-click to download the file

* if you are using Internet Explorer
double-click to start the download/install dialogue

To install X-Win32:

01. Browse to where you saved the executable and the license file.

02. Double-click on the executable to start the installation.

03. Select your setup language [Default is set to: English [United States]], click "OK"

04. After the necessary files have been extracted, the InstallShield Wizard will open,
click "Next >" to continue.

05. Read the License Agreement and click on "I accept the terms of the license agreement", click "Next >" to continue.

06. Enter the User information, the Organization should either be "University of Utah" or "College of Social and Behavioral Science"

07. Under "Install this application for:" click "Anyone who uses this computer [all users]"
click "Next >" to continue.

08. Select the installation folder [Default is C:\Program Files\Starnet\X-Win32 7.1\]
click "Next >" to continue.

09. Select Complete installation, click "Next >" to continue.

10. Click "Install" to start the installation.

Using and Configuring X-Win32

01. The first time you launch X-Win32, you will be prompted to register the program, click "Register"

02. This will bring up a window asking for a license key, open up the license file
[x-win_155.97.0.0-license.txt] and copy the serial number from the file into the license key window.

03. If correctly entered, the license window should state:

s/n 1-1000

Click "Apply" then click "OK"

05. Open X-Config [Under Start\All Programs\X-Win32 7.1\X-Config]

06. Click on the "Security" tab
Check the boxes next to "Access Control" and "Use XAuth". Click "Apply" then click "OK"

08. Click on the "Other" tab
Uncheck the box next to "Automatic XDMCP Broadcast". Click "Apply" then click "OK"
