Subject: uNID and CSBS Account Linking
Date: January 30, 2008
CSBS Computing will be adopting the University's uNID authentication for services provided by CSBS in the coming months. This transition will allow you to use the same password to login to your workstation that you do when accessing the Campus Information System.
To prepare for this transition, your CSBS account needs to be linked to your uNID. To do this we've setup a simple web page that will require you to authenticate with both your uNID and your CSBS ID at the same time to verify you hold both accounts. This is the only step you need to follow to prepare for this transition.
This web page simply passes authentication along to these two different networks and records the results. If you are concerned about the validity of the site you are going to, check the cert used to secure the site. It should be owned by CSBS Computing and signed by DigiCert. Always verify the Cert owner and signer of secure sites you have to share information with.
We must have ALL CSBS accounts linked by February 29th to move this project forward. This process should only take 2 minutes of your time.
What is a UNID?
"A University Network ID (uNID) is a piece of information that uniquely identifies you to on the University of Utah network for various computing services. Your uNID is created by substituting a lower case "u" for the first zero in your University (student, employee) ID. A University Network ID is also known as a uNID, NID, username, login name or User ID. All students, faculty, and staff at the University of Utah receive a uNID." -- http://www.it.utah.edu/services/connected/unid.html
If you do not know your uNID and/or password, please contact the campus helpdesk at 581-4000
