Scheduled Downtime
Servers and network equipment will regularly need software and hardware upgrades,
preventative maintenance, system reconfiguration, and enhancements that cannot be
completed on "live" systems to keep them operating as intended.
CSBS Computing schedules a monthly maintenance window for servers and network equipment
in which any service may be taken offline for updates. Workstation maintenance windows
differ from servers due to the high-availability required for servers and infrastructure.

Although each maintenance window may go unnoticed; please take the following precautions:
- If you are planning to use your workstation between the hours of 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM during a Scheduled Downtime, you may lose network connectivity and access to enabling services. Save your work locally and often. After the maintenance, please transfer your valuable data to network storage so it can be backed up.
- If you are connected remotely during the maintenance period you may be disconnected to allow an update or reboot to continue.
- If you do not plan to work during the maintenance periods, please do not shut down your computer, but instead log off of the workstation so updates can apply.
- Do not schedule or perform overnight processing jobs on your workstation or the core research servers during these downtimes.
CSBS Computing will not send notices for scheduled maintenance downtime. Should the need arise for out-of-cycle scheduled downtime, email notification and/or network messages will be sent with as much notice as possible.
